We are looking for an expert and agile leader to drive focus categories growth for our client in France and lead a team of industry experts. Reporting to the Country Manager, you will be in charge of the Focus Categories P&L from generating demand to driving operating income.
You will craft the categories strategy and coordinate the different levers to deliver it: Traffic creation, supply optimization, services and partnerships, pricing and merchandising – embracing buyers and sellers!
You will be working with a range of partners, both local and global to tailor the strategy to the French market while make the most of their global platform and operations.
The role is based in Central Paris in a team that has received several ‘Great Place to Work’ awards (Top 20 in 2023, and ‘Great place to Work’ for Women).
Responsibilities
- Overall optimization of the Categories P&L and market share in focus categories in France
- Definition of demand, supply and services strategy
- Performance management including analysis and course correction. Scope covers buying activity, selling side, experience/services and customer satisfaction â including imports & exports
- Optimize the existing performance and define new business development options
- Close and manage strategic partnerships when relevant
- Team management : small team of direct reports (category managers)
- Collaborating with cross functional teams : product, legal, marketing, customer service, other categories leaders internationally
- You will work both in French and in English daily
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree, or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years experience, of which;
- 5 years+ in management consulting
- 5 years+ in a category management role, in the e-commerce industry, ideally marketplace
- Knowledge of the e-commerce industry
- Able to navigate between strategic planning and operational execution, analytics and commercial negotiation with partners, between sellers and buyer needs
- An agile leader with strong commercial competence
- Self-starter and comfortable operating with small teams in a fast-changing environment
- Experience in leading cross functional teams, as well as team management
- International and/or technology experience a plus.
- Fluent in French and English (operating in English)
