by John N. Cofie – Founder & CEO
I left Google Cloud NEXT in Las Vegas filled with a heady mix of inspiration and urgency – the kind that hits you not when you see the future, but when you realise it’s already begun.
The conversations didn’t just revolve around products, tools or tech. Sure, Gemini 2.5’s new video-generation capabilities were and are irrefutably impressive, but something else got chins wagging. The zeitgeist of Google NEXT was the realisation that the pace of change has crossed over from acceleration to colossal exponential growth.
In five years, half of what we do today will be done by AI.
That’s right, IT departments will evolve to take on HR functions for AI agent workforces, and literally 50% of your team may not be human.
That’s not a vision board or an exercise in imagination – Google is actively building the infrastructure to make it happen, sooner than you think.
So the real question, the one reverberating around the event and, consciously or unconsciously, influencing every conversation, became:
Is your business really ready for what’s next?
One thing I’m clear on is that Chesamel isn’t sitting back and watching how events unfold. We’re leaning further into digital transformation to meet this new reality head-on, while helping other organisations do the same.
The Four Pillars of Transformation
Digital transformation isn’t about adopting the latest tech. It hinges on rethinking how your business creates value and having the structure, culture, and systems to deliver it at scale.
I see this playing out all the time across four interconnected pillars:
1. Digital Strategy: Aligning Vision With Velocity
Transformation starts with intentionality. Every business needs a strategy that links its goals to the digital tools available in the present, not in a theoretical future, but in the here and now.
AI isn’t just a technology layer. It’s becoming a decision-maker, a process runner, and, slowly but surely, a colleague and support system.
Smart businesses should be asking themselves:
- What value do humans create in a world where agents handle the rest?
- How do we redesign the customer journey when the frontline is an algorithm?
- Where do we automate, where do we augment, and where do we want to stay human-first?
2. Culture & Leadership: Adaptability Over Legacy
I firmly believe that technology won’t be the reason companies fall behind in this new world order. Mindset will.
The winners of the next few years will have workplace cultures that are fluid, curious, change-ready, and most importantly, trust in their organisation’s vision for transformation.
To help their workforce embrace the inherent uncertainty around the age of AI, leaders will need to:
- Guide hybrid teams of humans and AI agents
- Foster continuous experimentation and radical transparency
- Make fast, ethical decisions in a shifting landscape
Chesamel is working tirelessly to design a future-ready workforce, and we’re helping our clients shift from rigid hierarchies to adaptive, learning-centric organisations that will thrive with AI.
3. Technology: Build the Infrastructure and Make the Most of AI Agents
I think it’s worth repeating that the announcements at Google Cloud NEXT weren’t about a distant future; they were about equipping organisations with the training, tools, and trust to enthusiastically adapt to the mixed workforce era, where people and AI work side-by-side now.
Using their prediction of a 50% agent workforce as a guide, workplaces in 2030 could have:
- AI project managers assigning tasks, tracking progress, and escalating intelligently
- Marketing campaigns designed, deployed, and optimised end-to-end by generative tools
- Digital agents onboarding other agents, setting KPIs, and flagging anomalies in real time
To achieve this without a choppy (to say the least) transition period with some potential chaos thrown in, you need secure, scalable, cloud-native infrastructure plus the expertise to implement it in a way that drives real business outcomes. I’m always incredibly proud when the occasion permits me to say Chesamel can do this and much, much more.
4. Insights & Analytics: Intelligence That Acts In Your Best Interests
Allowing AI to make business-critical decisions without protocols in place and good data to back it up is just automating guesswork. Chesamel knows that long-lasting, effective transformation means embedding intelligence into everything from operations to customer engagement, in the right way.
This demands a deeper solution than simply implementing dashboards. Groundbreaking digital transformation needs:
- Systems that respond in real-time
- Predictive insights that shape strategy
- Feedback loops that optimise performance automatically
The businesses that master data will learn faster. And they’ll get results that others won’t.
What Happens If You Don’t?
I don’t think it’s dramatic to say that if you don’t leverage the information we’re receiving now, you risk becoming irrelevant in your industry.
The biggest threat isn’t disruption. It’s inertia. In a world where half of your business could be run by AI in five years, the cost of hesitating now multiplies daily.
Digital transformation has become an imperative.
